Giveaways, Home & More

Lots of businesses on Facebook have giveaways when they get x amount of likes.  I LOVE entering giveaways.  I've won a lot of baby/children's things, jewelry, purses, hair bows, but the most interesting thing I've won showed up on my doorstep today....an adult toy.  When I found out I won that, I had to laugh (as I'm a lesbian & out of 300 prizes I could have won, it was the vibrator).  I'm not complaining at all.  It's a $40 prize!

Angelica and I are making plans to go visit my family in Alabama.  Since Angelica is on dialysis, we have to plan way ahead w/the center so they can get her set up at a center in AL.  The first week of April is what we're shooting for.  I haven't been home since last May and there has been so much going on.  My Grandmother has been moved to my Uncle's house.  She seems happier, but I worry about her.  I can't wait to get there to hug her and to go see my nephew, Bryson!  He is turning 2 next month.  I can't believe how fast time has gone by.  Sadly, I've only met the little guy once, but he impacted me in a big way.

Angelica and I are about to start trying again for a baby.  Our donor is a wonderful man in California who wants this for us as much as we do.  It means a lot.  I know some people disagree with our choice to have a child, but I guarantee that a baby would be the most loved thing in the world.  Alexis and Eloy are also excited at having a little brother or sister.  That means a lot!

That's it for now.

Gray hair

Last night the kids came over for a visit.  Eloy is about to get his drivers license and needed help filling out paperwork.  Alexis got off work and then came over.  They stayed for awhile then left to go do homework.  We get a phone call from Eloy saying that they'd *almost* hit someone and now the lady was following them.  Long story short, the lady called the cops and Alexis got pulled over.  The lady had road rage (according to the cop) and they let them go.  It's things like this that make more gray hairs appear on my head!

Angelica is a plus size woman.  Finding clothes that fit properly and look cute are hard so I was pleasantly surprised when Wal-mart had some really nice things for her on sale!  They had all their clearance for $3.  I got her 7 shirts and a pair of capri's plus a shirt and 2 pairs of capri's for me for about $30 (over a hundred dollars worth of clothes)!  Loving the clearance stuff!!!  If the income tax refund hits soon, I'm sure we'll get some more stuff for her.  She deserves it.

I've been couponing a lot lately.  I'm not a pro like those people on Extreme Couponing, but seeing a total come down $30-60 really is a high!  It's exciting and I don't hate shopping nearly as much now since I'm always looking for the good deal.  If only I could find a store locally that doubles coupons!

I've also been entering giveaways on Facebook and attending Twitter parties.  I love winning things, even if I can't really use them.  I always find someone who can or I donate it to charity.  The Twitter parties are amazing!  Great prizes to be won and thus far, I've gotten pretty lucky.  I won a Wholly Guacamole prize pack, 3 months worth of Activate Water and a Future Friendly Prize pack (which is arriving tomorrow).  I just need to figure out where to find the parties...like a list so I can keep up with them. :)

I guess that's about it for today.  More tomorrow...

Swiss Cheese & other things

Ya know how Swiss cheese has holes in it?  I think my brain looks like that!  I will go to the kitchen to get something and once I get there, I can't remember what it was.  I'm 34 yrs old and have to admit, that's embarrassing.  How do you explain to your kids that Suz can't remember things?  If I don't write things down, I'm totally screwed!

The good part about writing things down is I have PROOF when things go bad.  I was in an accident back in October.  This girl rear-ended me & then tried to avoid the calls from the insurance company.  I wrote every detail of what happened down/wrote down phone calls/etc.  That turned out to help me when the insurance company tried to screw me over.  I can't go into much detail since I'm in a lawsuit, but I can say who would have thought that being hit would make you scared of stopping at the intersection where it happened.  I'm hoping this is resolved soon.

Not a lot has been going on here in the Vaughn household.  Esme & Jasper are spoiled rotten.  I can't resist buying them bones.  They are so cute and provide us with such joy so they deserve treats.  Esme has a birthday coming up on Valentine's Day.  She'll be 3.  Jasper's birthday is April 6th and he will be 6.  I've had him since he was 4 weeks old.  His mother had gotten run over when he was a week old so the girl who had him was bottle feeding him.  She wanted him gone asap so I happily took my little man.

I did get an awesome new toy!  If you haven't heard of SodaStream, you really have to check out out.  You can make your own soda in 30 seconds!  You put tap water in the liter bottle, screw it onto the SodaStream, press the button on top 3 times (until it buzzes loudly), unscrew the bottle & pour the flavoring into the bottle.  Shake lightly and enjoy!  I got the flavoring that is like Mountain Dew and I gotta admit, it's pretty darn close.   They have 50+ flavors and I can't wait to try them all.

More to come...

January 3rd, 2011

Can you believe that 2010 has ended?  It seems just like yesterday when we rang in 2010 and life seemed so much easier.  So much has happened in the past year that has affected our life to much.

In March, Angelica got sick and I took her to the ER.  She had pneumonia, but worse than that, her kidneys were shutting down.  They said it was End Stage Renal Disease and she would need dialysis until she got a kidney transplant.  So for the past 10 months, she goes three days a week for four hours of dialysis.  She has continued working so I take her after she's done.  Her kids, Alexis aged 16 and Eloy aged 15 both had birthdays this month too.  My first nephew was born on March 6th.  His name is Bryson Lee.  He is absolutely adorable!

In May & June she had to have several surgeries on her perma-cath & fistula.  Nothing seems to work well on her and we are still having troubles with them to this day.

August brought another surgery on the fistula.  September we celebrated two years together & her 40th birthday.  My cars engine also had to be replaced, but we got a good deal thanks to Maria, a lady that works with Angelica.  October brought my 33rd birthday.  November was Grandma's 90th birthday and we celebrated Thanksgiving with her family in Dumas.

December (mid-month) she started feeling bad again so we went to the ER.  Her fistula wasn't working and she was having pain in her tummy, vomiting and horrible nausea.  They couldn't find anything wrong and sent her home.  A week later, I had to rush her back.  She wound up having to stay for a week and a half.  Christmas was spent in the hospital and unfortunately, we didn't have any money to buy the kids much.  Rent was almost not paid, but thanks to her ex husband, we are here for another month.  I could sit here and feel sorry for us, but instead, I lifted my heart to God and I know he will provide for us.

Today my sweet Grandmother called and said she had put some money in my bank account so we could pay our electric & cable bill.  It gives us a little breathing room and I don't know how we will ever repay the people who have helped us.

We don't have a lot, but we are happy.  That is truly all you an ask for in life.
